My name is Scott Leydin and I am the blogger behind 3plmanager.
Over the last 30 years or so I’ve learnt a thing or two about establishing, managing and developing partnerships with third party logistics (3PL) service providers and suppliers both here in Australia and around the world.
I have recently taken up a position with ADM Global as the General Manager of Supply Chain after a short stint at Rohlig Logistics managing a multi client third party logistics operation in Melbourne
Before joining Rohlig I was employed by 2XU as the Global Logistics Manager with responsibility for operating a company owned warehouse in Australia and also managing international freight forwarding , domestic transportation and 3PL relationships in Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, United States and Canada.
Prior to 2XU I was the principle consultant at Leydin Consulting Group – a specialist consulting company that worked with CEOs, CFOs, COOs, Supply Chain and Logistics Managers to develop and execute best practice supply chain and logistics strategies.
And before that I was the supply chain manager for Australian based apparel brands Bardot an 2XU. As part of these roles I managed 3rd party logistics service providers, company operated warehouses, apparel manufactures and suppliers in over 15 countries and across four continents.
Other previous roles have included a couple of stints in logistics management roles at Hewlett Packard. I have also successfully operated my own business as an independent logistics consultant specializing in helping organisations better manage relationships with their third party logistics service providers.
So, what makes me any different from from the majority of other people in this field?
It’s the fact that I have also spent a considerable amount of time on the other side of the 3PL fence.
I’ve had roles as a licensed customs broker, as the branch manager of an international freight forwarding company and as the general manager of large Australian transport and contract logistics company.
As a result I have insight from both perspectives – I have been a user and a provider of 3rd party logistics services my whole career.
I have also presented 3rd party logistics management related topics at a number of logistics conferences throughout the Asia Pacific Region and I have worked as a part time lecturer in a range of logistics subjects at Swinburne University – a respected Australian university here in Melbourne.
